Term: HRTF

Head-related transfer function describes how an individual’s head and ear geometry affects their listening experience. By measuring and modeling an individual’s HRTF, a sense of 3-D space, and especially a sense of elevation, can be presented using headphones. Applying a personalized HRTF improves the experience of listening to binaural audio on headphones.
