When a vibration or wave produces a frequency equal to the natural frequency of the system, that frequency becomes boosted in amplitude. For instance, in live sound when a microphone picks up sound from a speaker at its resonant frequency the system may begin to feedback at that frequency. Similarly, if a speaker cabinet has a resonant frequency, whenever audio contains that frequency, the cabinet will vibrate sympathetically with that frequency amplifying that frequency above the rest of the audio.
