Music can broadly be divided into higher, treble, frequencies, and lower, bass, frequencies. A simple stereo tone control may only provide adjustments for bass and treble. In a 2-way speaker system, the woofer reproduces the bass frequencies while the tweeter reproduces the treble frequencies.
